Do You Support Who the Person Is or Their Actions?

I really don’t think that there should be a difference. If we support someone, we support their actions also. At least I believe we should.

There is always an area that I highlight. God loves us and will always love us unconditionally, yet He hates sin.

In much the same way, I will love everyone always, it’s what God designed us to do. I will not though, support everyone’s decisions or actions.

Really, how could we?

We are all unique individuals and often things that unite us might be our values.

It is very very rare to find someone who shares all the values that you do. Most people may share a few core ones like integrity or kindness.

“With God, it isn’t who you were that matters; it’s who you are becoming.” — Liz Curtis Higgs

That’s tough for us to always determine but I think it’s important. We shouldn’t judge someone based on past decisions rather we should look to who they are becoming based on their present actions.

Words are nice. We can trust what they are going to do. But as I like to say,

“Actions speak, words whisper.” — Harrison Wendland
“Trust is believing without results, confidence is believing with assurance.” — Unknown

One of the most important things for us to remember is that we are not able to dictate what our environment does. We decide our environment and must be comfortable or at least accepting of the results of the environment that we choose.

“We can’t control the world. We can only (barely) control our own reactions to it. Happiness is largely a choice, not a right or entitlement.” — David C. Hill
