Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly

I knew the movie came out. I heard great things about the movie and knew that it was a wonderful story. It’s uplifting, based on a true story, and marvelous.

I love this. This is probably the most important thing from the entire book. It’s just an incredible reminder and these women were testaments to that. Everyone overcomes something. These women were innovators, forerunners, and groundbreakers. While we do not know what someone else has been through, we can always assume they’ve been through something.

People experience different things and all have to overcome different adversity to accomplish things.

God provides recognition. God will always give what man cannot and I think that is so so important to consider and always remember that it is not always up to us and we are not always able to do everything on our own — and we should not try to.

Even when people think that you can’t or won’t, all that matters is that you will and that you do, the recognition will come. And if it doesn’t come from man, it will come from God.

While I did like this book and I do love the story, I read to learn. I didn’t learn a whole lot that I didn’t already know. There were not a lot of things that reiterated things super important to me that I was not already doing. So again, while the book was great because it didn’t lead me to change any of my actions or thought processes, it received a 2 from me.

I gave this book a 2/5
