A Way to Live

One life.

Each day that we wake up is an incredible blessing and an opportunity.

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” — Mary Oliver

Each life on earth is like treasure. Incredibly valuable unless you never spend it. If you store up treasure for yourself and do nothing with it, what’s the value? It is diminished and has disappeared.

If you wait your whole life for an opportunity, you may never get one.

You must take advantage of the opportunities in front of you. Maybe you don’t know the importance or value of certain opportunities, but God does — He created them.

It’s up to us to take advantage.

As the story goes, an optimist said the glass was half full, a pessimist said it was half empty, and a realist drank the glass of water.

“Don’t pray to get out of the desert — pray to get the most out of the desert.” — Dave Adamson

No matter what stage of life we’re in or what we are doing, God can use it for good and lead us to see with His eyes rather than our own.

I love the song “Give Me Your Eyes” by Brandon Heath. He sings and asks God to give him His eyes so he can see all the people he’s missed.

No matter what stage of life we’re in or what we’re doing, God can use it for good.

If you are asking God why you are still in the same job maybe it’s right in front of your eyes, literally.

Sometimes it’s all about the way that we are viewing a situation or experience.

Thinking a little further about the way we view individual perspectives, what about life as a whole?

Everyone who chases money never finds enough.
Everyone who chases power never attains enough.
Everyone who chases fame never achieves enough.

There is more to life than just us and our goals. There is a lot lot lot more.

“Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition. It asks too little of yourself. Because it’s only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you realize your true potential.” — Barack Obama

Putting it all together, it’s essential that we continue to grow and advance towards our greater purpose.

It’s essential that we become more in every way imaginable.

It’s essential that each and every situation we find ourselves in is viewed from all angles.

It’s essential that we remain true to ourselves and remember what the trade-offs are for each and everything we look to undertake.

“Every time you level up you’re going to shed something, but in order to level up it’s necessary to shed.” — Steve Harvey

In closing, remember who you are, always be ready,

No opportunity or chance that we are given is too small. Anything can become more than what it is when we place it in the hands of God.

“The trouble with opportunity is, it never announces when it comes. It’s only after it’s gone, you’d realize that you missed it.” — Uday Kotak
