Week 21, I Read 6 Books Last Week, Is That a Lot?!?

I almost did it, just one book short of one per day last week. Would it not be awesome if we were able to read a book every single day? How much more intelligent would this world be? Pew Research wrote an article earlier this year stating that 24% of Americans did not read a book in 2017. Crazy.

I’ve read multiple articles talking about Elon Musk and the way he used to read. Elon’s brother has said he used to read up to 10 hours every day and 2 books during some days of the weekend. 10 hours a day of straight reading is A LOT. But maybe this summer I’ll do that for one week.

With the rise of audiobooks now it is a lot easier for me to fly through books at a quick pace. So I’m right where I want to be. Now having finished 50 books with 7 months to go, I’m on pace for 120 books. I’d be happy with that, I’ve noticed such a drastic difference in the way I’m thinking, speaking and acting since I started this.

I finished a variety of books last week, here they are:

Gary Keller’s The One Thing was the first I finished in the last week and I know I mentioned that in my other writing. I would like to attribute at least some of my production to that book.

Grant Cardone’s Sell or Be Sold, which I just loved. So so applicable. Sales are everywhere, no matter who you are, you have to sell. The message he shared about him selling himself to his now wife, Elena, was probably my favorite part of the book because it is so so relatable whether in friendships, work situations or anywhere else really.

Ed Catmull’s Creativity, Inc. (which has led me to take Steve Job’s biography off the shelf and make that my next print book). The management principles were woven in such a way that I found it difficult to stop this book once I got into it.

John C. Maxwell’s Talent Is Never Enough, which was awesome and definitely one of my favorites for the year. Now I am even more excited because he is speaking at church this coming week.

Gary Vaynerchuk’s The Thank You Economy, Gary is one of those guys I just absolutely love following. Not only is he wise, motivational and inspirational, he is consistent beyond measure. His content flows through him in such a genuine way.

Bob Proctor’s The ABCs of Success. This book was gifted to me from a chance connection I made by buying furniture off of Letgo. My favorite part of this book was where he said, “The next time you hear yourself saying, ‘That’s right,’ or, ‘I’m right,’ correct yourself by repeating, ‘That is a good way, and I might act on it. However, there is a better way, and I will look for it.’”

I’m extremely excited for the next week. I’ll have less time to read as I am beginning work with an old friend and planning a conference as well as continuing my internship and also helping another connection launch a company.

It’s game time!
